Sensual nuru, taken slowly and at length
From €180/hr · In-room at your hotel · 24/7
The slowest thing on the list. Warm oil, low light, and whole-surface attention paid at about half the speed of a therapeutic massage, with none of the pressure work and none of the hurry. It is for a person who would rather be attended to for an hour than treated.
What to expect
Nothing is announced in advance and nothing follows a protocol — the therapist reads what the body is doing and works from that. Strokes are long and repeated, the pressure light to moderate, and the pauses as deliberate as the movement. Temperature is managed throughout: warm oil, fresh towels, a room kept a little above comfortable. Most people find the first fifteen minutes the hardest, and then stop trying.
Who it suits
It suits a guest who wants nothing fixed and would rather be attended to slowly for a long time. Ninety minutes at the least; an hour ends at about the point where it settles.
What it leaves you with
An hour of undivided attention and the slack that comes after it, which guests tend to describe as sleep they did not have to wait for.
Origin
The long, slow, whole-body stroke belongs to the Esalen tradition that formed on the Californian coast in the nineteen-sixties, where massage was deliberately uncoupled from treatment and rebuilt around continuity and unhurried contact. Its practitioners were interested in what happens when nothing is being corrected. Almost everything sold anywhere as sensual massage is a descendant of that decision, whatever has been added to it since.
The technique itself
Pace is the whole of the method, and it runs at roughly half the speed of a therapeutic massage — a stroke from the ankle to the shoulder taking most of a minute rather than a few seconds. Strokes are repeated rather than varied, because repetition is what lets attention settle and a new movement resets it. The pauses are timed as carefully as the movement, held long enough to be noticed and released before they become a question. Pressure stays light to moderate throughout and never turns into work.

Why is ninety minutes suggested rather than an hour?
Because the slowness costs time. Most people spend the first fifteen minutes stopping — putting down the day, giving up the effort of lying still on purpose — and an hour ends shortly after that has happened. Ninety minutes and two hours leave the technique room to do what it is for.
Can it be booked for a couple?
Yes, either with one therapist working in turn or with two. Two therapists are €360 an hour. Say at the outset that it is for two people, so the length and the arrangement can be set sensibly.
Is there conversation, or is it quiet?
Quiet unless you would rather it were not. She takes her lead from you: some guests talk for the first ten minutes and then stop, others say almost nothing at all, and neither is treated as unusual.
