Soapy nuru, begun in warm water
From €180/hr · In-room at your hotel · 24/7
Everything here happens in warm water and foam. The therapist works with lather rather than oil or gel, so the hand never quite settles on the skin and the pressure arrives softened, diffused, always moving. It is the lightest of the techniques we sell, and for a certain kind of arrival — late, still carrying the day — it is the right one.
What to expect
It begins with the water, whose temperature is set before anything else, and most of the session happens standing or seated rather than lying flat. Lather is worked over the shoulders, the back, the arms and the legs in long passes, rinsed, then worked again, so warmth and cool alternate across the hour and keep the body awake rather than sending it under. There is nothing to set up and nothing to wipe away afterwards. It ends where it started, under running water.
Who it suits
It suits a late arrival who wants the day washed off before anything else, and anyone who finds firm pressure more effort than rest. An hour is a complete thing here rather than a short one.
What it leaves you with
Clean, loose and properly warm through — the particular relief of having the day taken off you rather than worked out of you.
Origin
The soapy format belongs to bathhouse culture rather than to any clinical tradition: lather, hot water, and a body washed by someone other than its owner. Japan's soaplands carried the name toruko-buro, Turkish bath, until 1984, when Turkish objection had them renamed; Bangkok's parlours built their own version around the same arrangement of water and foam. What survives in every version is the ordering — wash, rinse, wash again — which is older than any of the houses that sell it.
The technique itself
Lather is made away from the body and carried to it, so the first thing that arrives is foam rather than a hand. The therapist works in long passes down the back and the limbs with the palm flat and the fingers closed, and because soap will not let a hand settle, pressure arrives spread across an area instead of concentrated at a point. Water is reintroduced at intervals, warm and then a little cooler, and that change of temperature is used deliberately to keep the skin awake. Nothing is held for long; the whole method is built on passing over.

Does it need a particular kind of bathroom?
A shower and reliable hot water are enough, and that is what a hotel bathroom in the centre reliably has. A bath is pleasant and not required. Most of the hour is spent standing or seated rather than lying flat, so floor space matters more than fittings.
Whose soap is used?
Hers. She carries a mild, unscented soap that lathers properly in Amsterdam water, along with her own towels. Nothing belonging to the hotel is needed or used.
Can it be followed by an oil massage in the same booking?
Yes, and it often is — foam and water first, dried off, then warm oil on a bed. That is a ninety-minute or two-hour booking rather than an hour; an hour is enough for one of the two, not both.
