She came here young and never developed the expatriate's restlessness; the Vondelpark on Sunday mornings and the broad, quiet streets of this part of town are enough for her. Her English is fluent and slightly formal, her Polish quicker and much funnier, and she will switch the moment you ask her to. She works with a great deal of gel and very little noise, the pressure carried through the forearm, the hour built in long sections rather than short ones. Ninety minutes is what she suggests when anybody asks, and she is honest that sixty goes quickly.

Grace decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
